Genesis 3:1-7                                        THE NOTS IN THE DEVIL’S TALE                                        SAT-01-07

SUBJECT:  Satan.
TITLE:  The Nots In The Devil’s Tale.
PROPOSITION:  To look at the “nots in the devil’s tale.”
OBJECTIVE:  So we can all know to avoid his pleadings.

INTRODUCTION:
1. Read the text.
2. Regarding the text.
       (1) Satan is not describe as we see him on the chart before us (
Chart 1).
               A. This is the way that many people would rather see him because this way they could avoid him with no confusion.
               B. He often appears as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14).
                       a. He will tell us that something is all right when it is not all right (Gal. 5:19-221).
                       b. He often tells people that certain religious practices are scriptural when they are not scriptural (Mt. 7:21-23).
       (2) When Satan appeared to Eve, in the garden, he convinced her that God’s pronouncement would not happen if she violated
it (Gen. 2:17; 3:4).
               A. He appeared to be honest with her and made her believe that God was dishonest (Gen. 3:5).
               B. He appeared to have her best interest at heart and that God didn’t (Gen. 3:5,6).
       (3) However, as the father of liars, he lied to her (Jno. 8:44).
               A. We want to look at some “nots” that Satan tells us about today.
               B. We want to know what to avoid so we won’t fall into the same trap Adam & Eve fell into.

DISCUSSION:  IN OUR STUDY, LET US NOTICE—
  I. THE NOT OF IMMORALITY IN THE DEVIL’S TALE (
CHART 2).
       1. Satan tells us that immoral acts aren’t bad for us, when in reality they are.
               (1) We are told that “homosexuality” is not anything to be ashamed of; that it is merely an alternative life style (Rom. 1:
26,27).
               (2) We are told that “adultery” is not wrong, it is just having an affair (Heb. 13:4).
       2. Satan has so many influences at work for him.
               (1) His forces are those who of the majority (Mt. 7:13,14).
               (2) His forces are those who use peer pressure to make us yield to temptation (Jas. 1:12-15).
               (3) His forces will even use fear to make us follow his ways (3 Jno. 9-10).
       3. We should never follow this “not” in the devil’s tale.

II. THE NOT OF UNSCRIPTURAL RELIGIOUS PRACTICES IN THE DEVIL’S TALE (
CHART 3).
       1. Calvinism says that babies are NOT born sinless.
               (1) Their main text is Psalm 51:5 (NIV).
               (2) Jesus stated that babies are sinless and if we can’t enter into heaven as one of them, then we cannot enter (Mk. 10:
13-15).
       2. Denominationalism says that baptism does NOT save us.
               (1) They believe in faith alone (Jno. 3:16).
               (2) The Bible tells us that baptism does save us (Mk. 16;15,16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21).
       3. Denominationalism says that instrumental music in worship is NOT sinful.
               (1) We are only authorized to that which God has authorized.
                       A. Nadab and Abihu got fire from some place where they had not been authorized to get it (Lev. 10:1,2).
                       B. Uzzah, the priest, died because he touched the ark of the covenant when he was NOT authorized to do so (2
Sam. 6:6,7).
               (2) We are only to offer up the type of music that is authorized (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:6).

III. THE NOT OF OUR OBEDIENCE TO THE GOSPEL IN THE DEVIL’S TALE (
CHART 4).
       1. Satan makes us think that we do NOT have to obey the gospel in order to be saved.
               (1) We cannot be saved by works (Eph. 2:8,9).
               (2) We cannot be saved by faith alone (Jas. 2:24,26)
               (3) Paul said that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 1:18).
       2. Satan makes us think that we do NOT have to obey everything that God has told us.
               (1) If we love Christ we will keep his commandments (Jno. 14:15).
               (2) We know that we love him when we keep his commandments (1 Jno. 5:3).
               (3) We cannot call him Lord if we do not do the things that he says to do (Lk. 6:46).

CONCLUSION:
               SUMMARY:  We have seen—
                       1. The NOT of immorality in the devil’s tale.
                       2. The NOT of unscriptural practices in the devil’s tale.
                       3. The NOT of obedience to the gospel in the devil’s tale.
APPEAL:  As Satan lied to Eve, he is lying to us today.  When he says that something is NOT wrong, we need to believe
that it is wrong and stray away from it.

Job 42:2                                                THINGS GOD DOES NOT KNOW                                        GOD-01-07

SUBJECT:  God.
TITLE:  Things God Does Not Know.
PROPOSITION:  We want to look at things that God does not know.
OBJECTIVE:  So we can know what these things are.

INTRODUCTION:
1. Read the text.
2. Regarding the text.
       (1) Job said that God could do all things and that no thought could be with held from him.
               A. This clearly states that God knows all things.
               B. However, there are some things that God does not know.
       (2) This does not contradict the statement by Job, but it does show us that his statement has to be qualified.
               A. God is omnipotent, but there are some things he cannot do.
                       a. He cannot make a rock so large and heavy that he will not be able to lift it.
                       b. He cannot lie (Tit. 1:2).
               B. God is omnipresent, but there some places where God cannot abide.
                       a. He cannot abide with Satan (2 Cor. 6;13-17).
                       b. He cannot abide with an unbeliever (Jas. 4:4).
       (3) So God is omniscience, but there are some things he cannot know and does not know.
3. Reference To S.T.P.O.

DISCUSSION:  GOD DOES NOT KNOW—
  I. THOSE WHO REFUSE TO OBEY HIM.
       1. He knows who they are, he knows who everyone is (Mt. 10:30).
               (1) He knows every sparrow that flies in the air (Mt. 10:29).
               (2) He knows every man who has ever lived on this earth.
       2. However, those who refuse to obey him, he does not know (Mt. 7:21-23).
       (1) He does not know them spiritually, for they are dead to him (Isa. 59:1,2).
       (2) He does not know them kindly, for they are his enemies (Phil. 3:17-19).
3.  Those who refuse to obey him, will not be recognized as his children in the day of judgment (2 Thess. 1:7-9).
       (1) They will be punished with everlasting fire (Mt. 25:41).
       (2) They will be placed in eternal torment with the devil and the beast (Rev. 20:10).
       (3) They will be placed in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (Rev. 21:8).
       4. God does not know those who refuse to obey him (Heb. 10:28-29).

II. HOW TO CONDEMN A MAN WHO LIVES FAITHFULLY TO HIM.
       1. Looking at the chapter of Faith in Hebrews we see that—
               (1) Abel had faith in God and trusted in him (Heb. 11:4).
               (2) Noah had faith in God and was saved from the flood (Heb. 11:7).
               (3) Abraham had faith in God and obeyed him (Heb. 11:8).
               (4) All the others who had faith in God and lived faithfully to him (Heb. 11:32-40).
       2. When man obeys God from the heart, God will save him from his sins (Rom. 6;17).
       3. We become the servants of righteousness (Rom. 6;13).
               (1) As the servants of righteousness, we serve sin no more (Rom. 6;18).
               (2) We will be servants, either to satan or unto God (Rom. 6:16).

III. ANY WAY FOR MAN TO COME TO HIM, OTHER THAN THROUGH CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.
       1. There was only one sacrifice, Jesus Christ (Heb. 10:26).
               (1) God didn’t look at all the ways to save man and choose the best one.
               (2) He chose the only one (Mt. 26:39).
       2. If we pass up the only way that God has given us to come to him, we will be lost.
               (1) Jesus is our way to God (Jno. 14:6).
               (2) Jesus is the author of our salvation (Heb. 5:8,9).
               (3) Jesus is our intercessor (Heb. 7:25).
               (4) Jesus is our mediator (1 Tim. 2:5).
               (5) Jesus is our high priest (Heb. 4:15).
       3. If we pass up this one and only way, God does not know how to save us from our sins.

CONCLUSION:
SUMMARY:  We have seen that God does not know—
                       1. Those who refuse to obey him.
                       2. How to condemn a man who will obey him from the heart.
                       3. Any way for man to come to him, but through the Lord Jesus Christ.
APPEAL:  These are things that God does not know.  If we do the things he tells us to do, he will save us and he will know
us.
